Our Brigade

Who are we?
A volunteer fire brigade

Carwoola Brigade is made up of over 50 members, mostly Carwoola locals with some living in neighbouring areas.
We are all volunteers and do not get paid for our time.
Our Brigade is one of over 20 volunteer Rural Fire Brigades in the Lake George District of the NSW Rural Fire Service incorporating brigades from the Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council area.

Where are we?
Part of our local community

Carwoola operates out of the fire station attached to the Carwoola Community Hall at 16 Gathering Place, off Douglas Close, approximately 10km down Captains Flat Road from Queanbeyan.
We service the Carwoola, Radcliffe, Douglas, Molonglo, Primrose Valley, Stoney Creek and Widgiewa areas (but of course we help our neighbours!)
Our closest neighbouring rural Brigades are Captains Flat, Hoskinstown-Rossi, Ridgeway, Queanbeyan, Burra and Bungendore.

What do we do?
Firefighting, & much more

Carwoola Brigade services our community by fighting bush and grass fires, house/structure fires, fire protection, attending motor vehicle accidents and a range of other incident types.
We also aim to help our community to protect themselves with preparation, prevention and fire awareness courses.
We also play an active role in helping out with a range of other local community activities.
And of course we also provide support to our neighbouring Brigades and areas outside the district when called upon.
